Untitled & Beautiful Pigeons

The Untitled fair with it's incredible South Beach location right on the sand is bathed in light (almost too much light) and is known for it's cutting edge fare.  By far, my favorite booth was Dittrich & Schlechtriem from Berlin, Germany.  They featured the collaborative work of Julian Charriere and Julius von Bismarck and their pigeon project titled "Some Pigeons are More Equal than Others."  The project involved an apparatus that was installed in public spaces in Copenhagen, Berlin and Venice.  The apparatus dispersed a non-toxic, water soluble color solution that covered the pigeons that entered.  Once released among the other pigeons, the behavior of the group was observed to see how their new found color effected them and the rest of the birds.  The photos were beautiful and definitely made one contemplate the sociology of beauty.

And now for something completely different, "Sanctify Thyself" by Yael Kanarek at Bitforms Gallery, NYC. We couldn't resist.
