Art Basel is the Mecca, the big cheese, the head honcho, the Augusta National of contemporary art fairs, and I spent the past two days visiting the 300+ galleries exhibiting there.
A few highlights:
| Lucio Fontana & Alexander Calder at Helly Nahmad Gallery, New York |
| Nahmad also had an entire room of white Fontana paintings - stunning! |
| Albert Giacometti at Richard Gray Gallery, Chicago |
| Nabil Nahas "Sapphire" at Sperone Westwater, New York |
| Nahas achieved this surface by mixing volcanic ash with acrylic paint. |
| We're in Michelangelo Pistoletto's art jail! |
| Kevin relaxes in the artist-designed outdoor cafe |
And finally, a special shout-out to my fellow Art Girl, Linda:
| Manfred Pernice, "Hocker-Set (3)'Linda'" (detail) |
