Off the Beaten Path

With Kevin's Roadside America iPhone app as our guide, we set out to experience some of Houston's uniquely odd attractions.  First stop: the Beer Can House, a landmark that combines two of our favorite things: beer and art.  Begun in 1968, the Beer Can House is the brainchild of John Milkovisch, a retired upholsterer for the Southern Pacific Railroad.  It is estimated he used over 50,000 cans of beer to cover the house with aluminum siding and adorn it with garlands hanging from the roof edges.
