Tsavo

We begin our official "safari" in Tsavo. Divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West by the Mombassa to Nairobi railway, Tsavo West is the more popular tourist destination due to its beautiful scenery and varied wildlife.

Mzima Springs is a natural spring borne of the run-off water from Mt. Kiliminjaro and provides all the water for Mombassa. It is home to numerous crocodiles and hippos (none of which came out for us) and fish. The spring has an underwater lookout for viewing of any creatures that might swim by.
